    Bareback rider Roedy Farrell earned a score of 77 points and 4th place in the short go at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Gillette. He placed in the top ten in the average with 212 points, which tied him with two other riders for 8th place. Farrell qualified in the bareback riding for the National Finals by earning second in the State Finals held in June.     At the July 18 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Assistant to the Mayor Jim Jeunehomme said their solid waste permit at the landfill with the DEQ has been extended two years and they should begin the landfill closing process on July 1, 2024. Mayor Estenson and the council discussed that they should start moving forward on finding concrete solutions to the landfill matter.     Ned Faler, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Thermopolis, Wyo., on July 20, 2023. Ned was born in Gillette, Wyo., on April 22, 1965. He was the third child to William (Bill) and Peggy Faler, one of three children. In 1977, the family moved to Thermopolis Wyoming where Ned graduated from High School in 1982.     John Daly Hammond was born October 12, 1956, in Farmington, N.M. His family reported him missing November 11, 2021, and he was declared dead in June 2023. John spent his early childhood in Farmington. When he was a teenager his family moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., graduating in 1974 from Hot Springs County High School.     Helen Roncco, 94, died on June 4, 2023, at Deer Trail Assisted Living in Rock Springs, Wyo., where she resided since Nov. 2021. She was born on June 21, 1928, to Nikola and Dushanka Pavkovich in Lander, Wyo. Her family moved to Gebo, Wyo., where she lived until she was eight years old when they moved to Thermopolis.
