On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Highway Patrol

Friday, July 21

10:43 p.m. Linda Marie Crabtree, 60, was arrested for alleged probation violation. Diana Gayle Collins, 40, was arrested for alleged possession of controlled substances, meth and marijuana. Donald Blaine Scott, 42, from Casper, was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, July 17

9:23 a.m. Report of fence wire that was cut out on Red Lane. No known suspects at this time.

Tuesday, July 18

1 p.m. Officers documented information regarding a civil dispute.

1:14 p.m. An officer was requested in regard to a dispute. The individual was advised the matter was civil.

Wednesday, July 19 

5:28 p.m. An individual reported their neighbor witnessed a subject in their yard and appeared to be peeping in the reporting party’s window.

6:40 p.m. Report of five people who fell off their watercraft in the Bighorn River near Buffalo Creek Road. All five made it to land and had to be assisted back to the highway. A citation was issued to the owner of the boat for failing to provide life jackets. 

9:45 p.m. Medical assist for the Police Department and the ambulance.

Thursday, July 20

1:44 p.m. A harassment restraining order was given to a 55-year-old female. 

2:24 p.m. A deputy responded to Highway 20 North for a field on fire. This was a previous controlled burn that had started up again. Attempts were made to contact the homeowner, but there was no response. After approximately 20 minutes on scene and the fire department arriving to put the fire out, the homeowner came out, asked emergency services to leave, and said he had things under control. 

6:10 p.m. Report of a driver of a vehicle that failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and almost caused a crash. 

9:37 p.m. Medical assist for the ambulance.

Friday, July 21

6:52 p.m. A welfare check was performed for a juvenile female that had been taken to the hospital. The incident was found to be accidental, and the child was okay.

10:43 p.m. Agency assist involving the K9 Unit who conducted a free air sniff for Highway Patrol.

Saturday, July 22

5:27 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

9:59 p.m. A complaint was received of individuals shooting firearms on Highway 20 South.

Sunday, July 23

1:33 a.m. Report of a domestic dispute in the Gebo area. Individuals were located, and the argument was found to be verbal only. 

1:58 p.m. Agency assist for Highway Patrol with traffic control for a crash at mile marker 145 on Highway 20 North. 

4:35 p.m. Report of a tractor and baler on fire on Owl Creek Road. The fire was put out by the fire department.

Police Department

Monday, July 17

9:27 a.m. A 70-year-old male was cited for not registering 17 chickens. They were removed.

10:27 a.m. Report of vehicles parked and trespassing on private property. The vehicles were removed.

3:56 p.m. A 63-year-old male from Nuevo, Calif., was cited for illegal single-lane use.

9:53 p.m. Agency assist for Wyoming Highway Patrol in regards to a potential REDDI report. A traffic stop was initiated on Highway 20 South. The male driver was transported to the emergency room after crashing into the guardrail. 

Tuesday, July 18

1:27 p.m. A weapon that was hidden under a camper during law enforcement contact in the winter was discovered in the 900 block of Shoshoni Street. The weapon was seized and added to the incident.

2:01 p.m. Agency assist for the Drug Enforcement Administration in the proper disposal of K9 drugs.

Wednesday, July 19 

11:59 a.m. Report of a traffic accident in Hot Springs State Park. A male driver had crashed into a parked State of Wyoming vehicle. No injuries occurred or citations were issued. 

6:24 p.m. Officers responded to a dog at large in the 1000 block of Broadway Street. The dog was caught and the male owner was given a warning for an animal at large problem. 

7:14 p.m. Officers responded to the 700 block of Arapahoe street for a citizen dispute between a male and a female. A citation was issued to the 51-year-old male for breach of peace. 

8:45 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South 6th Street for property found at a business. The property was then returned to the female owner.

Thursday, July 20

9:56 p.m. A 31-year-old male from Massachusetts was stopped on Highway 20 North for speeding. During contact with the male, the officer detected the odor of marijuana and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. The male was cited for possession of marijuana. 

Friday, July 21

10:49 p.m. Agency assist for Highway Patrol.

6:06 p.m. Report of property damage to a vehicle in the 400 block of South 6th Street.

Sunday, July 23

9:34 a.m. Report of a parking problem in the 700 block of Arapahoe Street. 

3:30 p.m. A 51-year-old male was trespassed in the 300 block of Arapahoe Street.

Circuit Court

Joe Hall was bound over to District Court for two counts of failing to register as a sex offender and sex offender, residing within 1,000 feet of a school.

Kevin M. Jones, driving while under the influence of alcohol, incapable of safely driving, first offense within 10 years, 90 days jail, 86 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

Darrick Andrew Collins was bound over to District Court for possession of a controlled substance, powder or crystal, three grams or less, third plus offense and use of a controlled substance, Schedule I, II or III.
