His first place entry was a female Broad-tailed hummingbird, shot in the Wind River Canyon as she was attempting to land on a nectar feeder. The Washakie-Hot Springs County Farm Service Agency (FSA) has programs available to help in disaster situations. Any disaster event relating to agricultural land should be reported to the FSA office so proper notifications can be made to assist in these events. The Wyoming Walleye Stampede hit Boysen Reservoir June 26-28 for a weekend-long fishing tournament. A familiar face is keeping a familiar business in the community. After 40 years operating Heavenly Scent Dog Grooming, Jean Bennett is turning the reins over to long-time assistant Andrea Linn. Originally from Illinois and Florida, Linn has been a part of the Thermopolis community for 13 years and has been grooming dogs for nearly 30. The Bureau of Reclamation and Corp of Engineers anticipate beginning reductions in releases from Boysen this week. Exact dates and times are unknown, but reductions will be in 500 cfs increments, every 2-3 hours. The goal for now is to reduce flows through the Wind River into Big Horn River to 4,000-5,000 cfs, then remain in that range until Boysen Reservoir is out of the flood pool and down to normal storage level. The Hot Springs County Weed and Pest District will be spraying for mosquitoes June 30-July 2 in the county including the areas of Lucerne, Kirby and Owl Creek, weather permitting. The Big Horn Basin Riders are planning another great 4th of July Freedom Run in Thermopolis and Hot Springs County with fun for everyone.
