    The high school band, choir and select solos and ensembles recently attended the Northern Bighorn Basin District Festival in Cody. Director Drew Brown said the large ensembles each saw growth from last year’s scores, however, it is important to note the judges change from year to year. Scores range from V (poor), IV (fair), III (good), II (excellent) and I (superior).     Hot Springs County High School and Thermopolis Middle School Chapters of FFA attended their State FFA Convention last weekend in Laramie and Cheyenne, garnering several champions. State Degrees were awarded to Dusty Barnes, Colton Dobbins, Kiara Warman and Barb Kissel. Kissel was also recognized as Regional Star Ag Business.     Ralph Witters Elementary will host a kindergarten registration event on Tuesday, April 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the school cafeteria. To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five years old by Sept. 15, 2019. Those registering students should bring a state certified birth certificate and immunization records. If a birth certificate is not available on April 30, it must be brought to the school office before the first day of the 2019-20 school year.     Members of the Hot Springs County High School Spanish Club spent Spring Break on a trip to the Dominican Republic. These trips outside the country are done every two years - the last one being to Peru - and give students a chance to experience another culture while also working on their language skills. Because of that first place, he was able to take an online quiz. Though given an hour to take the quiz, Needham said he finished it in 20 minutes and believes he got around 65 of them right.
