    The Jolly old Elf is just around the corner and so is the Annual Thermopolis Festival of Trees, Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center.     Whether you’re all alone for Thanksgiving or just don’t feel like cooking, you are invited to the free Thanksgiving dinner at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Sponsored by People for People and the Episcopal Church Women, dinner will include turkey, stuffing and all the salads and other goodies traditional Thanksgiving meals have.     Community members packed into the VFW Saturday evening for the dinner and auction which raised over $22,000 to benefit Shannon Myers. One of the many highlights of the night was when a saw, hand painted by Cindy Clancy, was purchased by Joe Arnold for $1,025. He donated the saw back to be auctioned off again.     FFA members, families and alumnus gathered at the fairgrounds Saturday evening for their Annual Harvest Moon Ball and 6th Annual Centurion Banquet. Centurian Ranch The Centurion Award is given to a family that has been on their ranch or farm for a minimum of 100 years. It all started in 1909 when John Grobowski purchased 112 acres of land on the upper Owl Creek. He had a herd of cows and put up his own hay to feed them.     A cookie jar auction and pig roast is slated for Saturday, Nov. 19 at the VFW to benefit Shannon Myers. Myers has been very ill the past two years and has undergone months worth of testing with still no definitive answer from doctors as to what is causing her illness. Bishop Duane Maddock explained in the church, leaders are not paid, and therefore the leadership is reorganized roughly every five years.     Hawk’s Avenue of Flags will be going up on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 8 a.m. at Monument Hill Cemetery. The memorial was created in memory of Airman First Class Donald L. “Hawk” Hawkins, by his wife Betty Hawkins and daughter Julie Lehman, but it is for all veterans.     The Thermopolis Community Blood Drive by United Blood Services will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at the Hot Springs County Senior Center.
