    The Travel & Tourism Board met for their montly meeting on October 21. The board continued discussions on projects for which to utilize Destination and Development Grant funds, which are anticipated to be received from the State Tourism Board. Three projects are currently on the table: creating and installing wayfinding signs to guide visitors to attractions and services in town; producing a travel brochure and setting up a new website.   • School board welcomes new trustee at October meeting

    The Hot Springs County School Board met on October 16 for their regular monthly meeting. The board welcomed new trustee Chauncey Johnson. Johnson thanked the board for giving him an opportunity to once again be involved with the school district. The district’s technology director Josh Taylor reported on the status of his department and provided the board with information pertaining to creating an AI policy for the district.     The Thermopolis - Hot Springs County Chamber Board met on October 9 for their regular monthly meeting. The chamber office changed to its winter hours schedule on October 1. The office is now open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday hours are 9 a.m. to noon. The chamber sponsors a Lunch and Learn event each month.     On Friday, October 17, in a game which would determine the first place standing in the 2A West and would also determine the number one seed in the upcoming play-offs, the Hot Springs County High School Bobcats faced off against the Buffaloes in Mountain View. Both teams entered the contest undefeated on the season. Both teams had ranked defenses, with the Bobcats ranked #3, and Mountain View ranked #4.     Last week, the Hot Springs County High School varsity volleyball team played two in-conference matches – one at home and one on the road. On Friday, the Lady Cats hosted the Lady Blue of Shoshoni. The two teams were fairly evenly matched. However, Shoshoni came away win a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-13, and 25-20). As has been the case for nearly the entire season, the Lady Cats were without their full complement of players.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams traveled to Ethete last Saturday to face off in the 2A West 5 Rivers Conference Finals. Both the Bobcats and the Lady Cats finished third in the team standings at the event and carried home some new hardware for the high school’s trophy case.     The Hot Springs County Commissioners met on October 7 for their first regular meeting for the month. Les Culliton appeared before the commissioners, to inquire about the status of collection efforts regarding the court ordered fine imposed in connection with the Tipi Retreat property.     The Thermopolis Town Council met for its first regular monthly meeting on October 7. A representative from the accounting firm of Seckman & Thomas presented a review of the audit of the town’s finances, which had recently been completed by the firm. The audit resulted in an “unqualified”, or clean, opinion from the auditors.     Following on a trend, the Hot Springs County High School volleyball team played away and home games last week, facing the Lady Bulldogs in Lovell on Thursday, and then the Cougars of Wind River for Homecoming on Saturday. Going into the match, Lovell was ranked number three among Class 3A teams, and their level of play displayed how they come by their ranking.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams traveled to Powell last week to compete in the Pinnacle Bank Powell Invitational. The event will serve as a final tune-up for the conference finals, which will be held at Wyoming Indian on Friday.     On Friday night the Lyman Eagles rolled into town to challenge Hot Springs County at Leroy Hayes Field. It was Homecoming week and the Bobcats were looking to extend their win streak.     The Travel & Tourism Board met for their September meeting and discussed that representatives from the Wyoming Office of Tourism were in town for a tour of local attractions, and were in attendance at the board’s meeting.
