The Thermopolis - Hot Springs County Chamber Board held their regular monthly meeting on February 12. A number of on-going projects were updated for the board. In on-going projects, the chamber continues to work on issuing the 2026 City/County Map. The board has scheduled a board get-together at for March 17. It has been a long season for the Hot Springs County High School Lady Cat wrestlers, a season which has seen a wealth of success for the team’s five grapplers. Last weekend, the team was in Powell for the 2A West Regional Tournament, an event to determine which wrestlers would qualify to compete this week at the state championships. At their February 3 meeting, the Hot Springs County Commissioners renewed a discussion of what was to be done with the building, located at 124 North 5th Street, which houses The Learning Center program. The building had been donated to the county in the past and was then transferred to Behavioral Health to be used as a counseling center. The Hot Springs County High School boys and girls wrestling team hosted the Worland Warriors last Thursday night for a dual on senior night and then traveled to Buffalo on Friday for some duals for the boys and some matches for the girls. Coming into the week, the Cats were undefeated in the 2A Northwest Conference, with a record of 5-0. With the respective night’s agenda being relatively light, the Thermopolis Town Council recently held two quick meetings and handled a variety of business. Town engineer Anthony Barnett reported that he has competed work on the application for SLIB funding for the transfer station project. CEO Scott Alwin introduced Dionna Colvin, who has recently come on board for the hospital as its clinical and staff education coordinator. The Hot Springs County High School boys and girls wrestling team competed in Greybull last weekend. Both teams came in third in the team standings - with the girls taking 66 points and the boys raking in 132 points. On the girls side, there were twelve schools in competition. The Hot Springs County Commissioners held their second meeting of the new year on January 20. Carson Rowley from Ardurra provided an update on the Overlook at Roundtop project. After serving as a practicing acupuncturist in the State of Colorado for over fifteen years, Robin van Maarth and her husband relocated to Thermopolis this past year. Bobcat wrestling was busy last week with a dual at home on Thursday and then a trip to Riverton on Friday and Saturday for the annual Ron Thon Memorial Tournament. Last Thursday night the team hosted the first of their two home duals of the season, matching up with the Panthers of Powell. The Cats are thin in numbers this year and consequently they give up a lot of open weights in a dual.
