All-State track awards announced

The Hot Springs High School track teams put in a fantastic effort this past season - sweeping the Regionals Championships in both the boys, and in the girls divisions. Thermopolis qualified 29 thinclads to compete in the State Championships in Casper this year.

Last week, the Wyoming High School Athletic Association (WYHSAA) announced the names of the state championship competitors who had earned this year’s All-State designations. Six Bobcats and two Lady Cats made the list.

Earning her second consecutive award, Logann Farrell, had a season best in the 100 meter dash (12.64); the 200 meter dash (26.33); the long jump (15-8); and the triple jump (35-0.5). Earning her first All-State designation, Paige Jones had season highs in the 100 meter hurdles (17.55); in the 300 meter hurdles (48.74); and in the pole vault (8-9).

Named as All-State for the Bobcats were Jordan Garrison, Ammon Gevas, Zak Hastie, Cole Keller (his second consecutive award), Stetson Moody and Dyllan Myers.

Keller had season highs in the 400 meter dash (50.55); in the 800 meter run (1:59.63); and in the triple jump (42-4). Gevas had season highs in the 400 meter dash (50.41); and in the 3200 meter run (10:59.24). Garrison had season highs in the pole vault (10-0); and in the 400 meter dash (53.47).

Hastie had season highs in the 400 meter dash (51.11); in the 200 meter dash (22.87); and in the high jump (5-7). Moody had season highs in the Long Jump (21-3); and in the 300 meter hurdles (41.31). Myers had a season high of 12-0 in the pole vault.

All of these very fine athletes are most deserving of this highest of honors in Wyoming high school sports.
