Golfers up next at spring conference

In their last regular season matchup for the short spring season, the Hot Springs County High School Bobcat golf teams faced off with some big school teams last week in the Cody Spring Invite Tournament at the Olive Glen Golf Course. With eleven teams competing in both the girls division, as well as in the boys division, the competition was stiff and the scores were superb all around.

For the girls, the home team took the championship with a team score of 280. The Lady Cats finished second, with just ten strokes more than Cody. In the boys division, Sheridan finished first with a team score of 319. The Bobcats finished fourth with a score of 357.

Madison Shaffer carded an impressive 90 and finished in a two-way tie for third place. Teammate Ruth Needham finished sixth with an equally impressive score of 93. Reagan Huckfeldt shot a 107, for a 14th place tie. Maile McCumber shot a 122 and Julia Needham shot a 136.

Trevin Shaffer finished in second place, carding a convincing 77. Hayden Johnson shot an 82, finishing in a two-way tie for 12th Place. Ty Simeral shot a 94 and finished in a three-way tie for 23rd place. Dallyn Griffin shot a 104.

Three middle schoolers also competed in Cody. Soren Webber carded a 107; Jackson Skelton shot a 117; and Cameron Martinez shot a 127.

The teams will head to Kemmerer this week for the Class 2A Spring Conference Championship Tournament.
