On August 9, a subadult male grizzly bear was captured and relocated for frequenting developed areas near Thermopolis. The Bureau of Land Management continues its investigation into the deaths of 21 domestic horses that had been abandoned on public land in a remote area northwest of Thermopolis. BLM Special Agent Joe Nardinger confirms that the horses were shot and that investigators are working with cooperating agencies to follow up on leads. “The assistance we have received from the Hot Springs Sheriff’s Office has been invaluable to this investigation,” said Nardinger. More than $21,000 was raised last weekend during the annual Relay for Life in Hot Springs State Park. Organizers said the event went very well, and in spite of a bit of wind as things got started, the weather was great overall. Things started off with a dinner for the survivors and their caregivers along with those participating in the relay. Kids filled the area of the park where the relay was held, enjoying everything from a sprinkler park to face painting while the adults walked the course....
