Monday afternoon in Hot Springs District Court, Tiffany Ringgenberg of Cody pleaded not guilty to felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and conspiracy to deliver meth. The charges carry with them a combined possible sentence of 27 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Though no date is yet scheduled, trial is expected to take at least three days for Ringgenberg. During Sept. 4 meeting of the Hot Springs County Local Emergency Planning Committee, John Fish brought up concerns about what would happen if the bridge on Sixth Street spanning the river were to collapse. The bridge was downgraded from traffic to a footbridge in 1994, and Fish said the last inspection he could find record for was in 1992. On Friday, Sept. 6, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 134 on US Highway 20 near Thermopolis. Around 4:45 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a motor vehicle collision. A new digitizing project is getting ready to begin at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center, thanks to a recent grant. The grant, given on behalf of the State Historical Records Advisory Board will make it possible for the museum to digitize photos, documents and record personal stories of life in Gebo, Crosby and Kirby, with emphasis on the coal mining industry of the time. Hunters in Wyoming should be happy with the addition of two new hunting areas recently added to the list last week. Secretary of the Interior, David Bernardt announced Hutton Lake National Wildlife Refuge has been added for migratory game birds, including duck, mergansers, geese and coot. RIVERTON — Plague and rabies both have been detected in Riverton animals. Three Riverton family dogs have tested positive for plague in the past two weeks, Riverton Police Department animal control officer Becki Weber said Sept. 5, and a bat found in town tested positive for rabies last week. Both diseases can spread to humans and may result in death without proper treatment. Little of Meeteetse was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised release, for unlawful use of a controlled substance, in possession of a firearm. This past Tuesday at 5:40 a.m. the Thermopolis Police Department initiated action to arrest four illegal immigrants who were working in Hot Springs County.
