A night of great music for a great cause is being planned by the HOPE Agency on Wednesday, October 12 at the V.F.W. Donations are being accepted for a benefit yard sale for Shawn Goodman who was seriously injured in an accident on Sept. 14 in the Bighorn Mountains. All proceeds from the sale will go to the family to help with medical expenses. This weekend, 10 disabled veterans from across the United States will come to Thermopolis VFW Post 2281 to do some antelope hunting, through the Hunting with Heroes program. Though the hunt doesn't begin until Saturday, the veterans should begin arriving Friday afternoon. The VFW had plenty of people Saturday evening, for a meal and cookie jar auction for Clay Little and his family. Over $32,000 was raised from the event, which will help defray medical costs and other expenses. On Friday, the potatoes were dug up, cleaned off, and moved into the classroom to be weighed. Boys and girls from six to 15 are invited to come participate in the annual Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Monday, Oct. 3. Main Street Thermopolis will be putting on Oktobrewfest in downtown Thermopolis 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Shorty’s Liquor will provide 16 different beers along with two kegs — one with Bud Light, one with Coors Light. The microbrews will come from Ten Sleep, Red Lodge and possibly other locations. Saturday night's Friends of NRA banquet grossed nearly $40,000. Net proceeds from the event will remain in Wyoming to be awarded as grants for local gun clubs, 4-H shooting clubs, and other organizations that support and encourage safe firearm use.
