In District Court on Monday afternoon, a sentencing was continued in a case against Justin Spence. Following a three-day trial in late April, Spence was found guilty of incest, which states he molested a juvenile on July 4 or 5, 2014. Though Spence was scheduled for sentencing on Monday his attorney, Travis Smith, argued there was a delay in getting the pre-sentence investigation (PSI) to his client. • Time for seasons to open

    Sep 21, 2017

As the seasons change once again, another season comes into play as well — hunting. No doubt those looking to bag a deer, antelope or other game have their spots picked out and have already circled dates and times for when they’re going out. For the younger hunters, and those adults who have never been on a hunt, this experience is heightened by the prospect of bagging that first animal and the pride that comes from not only a successful hunt but being able to use the meat in recipes, the hide or fur in clothing or just to have a mount to dec...

This week I want to focus on reductions that have taken place since that time in HSCSD #1. Complete program eliminations include: the family consumer science (home economics) program tha...

Thermopolis high school golf spent Thursday and Friday in Douglas rounding out their season at the State 3A Championships. The week didn't start well according to coach Jacob Smith. With the potential for bad weather, everything was moved up a day causing the Bobcats to lose one day of practice rounds. Instead of having a chance to play the course and get a feel for it, the team was playing blind. The only Cats who had played the course previously were Hudson Roling and Cade McLean. "We didn't... Full story

  • Local athletes compete in Spartan Trifecta

    Mark Dykes, Editor|Sep 21, 2017

Spartan races are a series of national and international obstacle races, with distances varying from three miles to half and full marathons. With no real set path outlined, competitors put themselves to the test as they run across rough terrain, up incredible elevations and obstacles that leave them wet, muddy, bruised and bleeding by the time they cross the finish line. Though one of these races is grueling enough, some go for three in a year, competing at the three events of Sprint, Super and...

A vacation getaway awarded via raffle was a popular idea, and one that has been done in the past.
