1958-2026
Debra K. Lackey ("Deb"), 67, passed away peacefully at her home in Thermopolis, Wyo., on May 10, 2026.
Deb was born on December 19, 1958, in Lusk, Wyo., to Donna and Glen Parmely. She grew up alongside her sister, Trenda, and her brothers, Neil and Christopher. She graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1977. In 1978, Deb married Brett Thompson, and together they welcomed a son and a daughter. Though they later divorced, Deb considered her greatest accomplishment to be motherhood. She was endlessly proud of her children, Jerod and Melissa.
In September 2000, Deb married the love of her life, Danny Lackey, in Thermopolis. Through that marriage she gained three stepsons and their families, whom she loved dearly. Their marriage was truly a match made in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Parmely; brother, Christopher Parmely; brothers-in-law, Ted and Terry (Buster); sister-in-law, Keri (Prissy); and her beloved great-grandson, Rowan.
To her family, Deb was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend she was the heart of our family. To her children, she was not only a mother but a best friend, confidante, and constant source of strength. Her love was unconditional, her loyalty unwavering, and her presence larger than life. She taught us how to love fiercely, laugh often, work hard, and always make room for one more at the table. While we grieve the loss of her physical presence, we are forever grateful for the years, memories, and love she gave us. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched and every heart she filled with love.
A Celebration of Deb's Life will be July 18, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Hot Springs State Park Lower Terraces in Thermopolis. Following lunch at the park, the celebration will move to Shorty's Liquor.
