The Hot Springs County Commissioners held a regular meeting Monday, July 20. The meeting followed a public meeting in which the commissioners considered and approved a budget for fiscal year 2026-27. The Thermopolis Town Council held a special meeting on July 15 and a regular meeting on July 21. At the special meeting, the council approved some language changes to the contract with the Thermopolis Golf Course, which had been requested by the state liquor licensing office. The added language makes clear that the golf course liquor permit allows for alcoholic beverage sales outside the confines of the club house - making sales on the course a part of the permitted activity at the location. Early this June, Intermountain West Joint Venture coordinated a workshop in Thermopolis, Wyoming, to explore post-wildfire rehabilitation, emergency response and coordination efforts between federal agencies, state partners, and private landowners. Hot Springs County Fair will wrap up this week with the Judge’s Choice Bake Sale Silent Auction and the Junior lIvestock Auction on Friday evening at the multi-purpose building at the fairgrounds. Lindon Lou Quinn, 87, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2026. Born in Martin, S. D., she finished high school in Salina, Kan., and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. Douglas Scott Johnson, 71, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, due to natural causes at Missouri River Nursing Home with his brother by his side. Doug was born on January 7, 1955, in Worland, Wyo., to Vernon and Ilene (Wostenberg) Johnson. He joined three older siblings, and his younger sister was born soon after.
