  • Council approves request for landfill permit extension

    At the May 16 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at Town Hall, Town Engineer Anthony Barnett reported that they had a meeting with DEQ to extend their permit for the landfill. Barnett said they recommended at first extending the permit for one year but then said they could extend it for two years. Their current permit expires on June 9.     At the Hot Springs County Commissioners (HSCC) board meeting held at the Annex building on May 16, Will Farrell and Les Culliton gave an update to the commissioners about the Hot Springs County Fair Building. There were plans to redo or repair the roof of the Fair Building, but their contractor dropped out.     The last day to submit extension requests for Wyoming’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is Friday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. The application portal is closing because the federal funding for the program is nearly exhausted. ERAP will continue processing all extension requests received before the application portal’s closure.     Main Street Thermopolis will hold its annual Brewfest fundraiser on Saturday, June 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. Downtown Thermopolis.     The People for People Backpack Program is a group of passionate volunteers that started a backpack program in our local schools. They are volunteer members and are a non-profit organization, operating under the Episcopal Churches 501(3) c.
