The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office has been handling several fraud cases and wants to help educate the public to be aware of fraud scams before they become a victim. Deputy Casey Freund has been involved in four fraud cases so far this year and, depending on the case, has been collaborating with the FBI in their investigations. Charlie and Kim Smith recently opened a new cafe restaurant at the stoplight, the 7 Lazy S Cafe. It’s located in the old Elle’s Restaurant and Bar/Thermopolis Cafe location at 109 South 6th Street. The name 7 Lazy S comes from Charlie’s brand when he ran cows. They serve a traditional American cafe menu. Hours are 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. HSH CFO Shelly Larson and Business Officer Director Larinda Bushur said, “Effective December 1 HSH made a change in patient responsibility billing partners. Freel started out as a case manager in August 1989, then a year later he became the director of rehab. In 1994, Freel left BHE for three years to work at the Children's Center.
