    The Hot Springs County High School Bobcats football team faced off with the Bulldogs in Lovell last Friday. After coming away with an hard-fought win in Kemmerer the week before, the Cats were looking to extend a win streak. The Bulldogs, however, had other plans. After going down 13 to nothing in the first quarter, the Cats came roaring back, to put up two touch-downs in the second period, and were up 14 to 13 with the halftime clock about to run out. A late touch-down pass, and a successful PAT, however, left Lovell up 20 to 14 at half-time....

    The Hot Springs County High School Cross Country team competed in the Warrior Invitational on Thursday, September 26. Teams from nine schools were in attendance. Senior, Trajn Swalstad of Worland won the boys race, running a time of 15:57.6. Buffalo won the boys team event, with a combined score of 38. The Cats had six runners entered.     The Thermopolis Middle School Cross Country team was in Worland last Thursday to compete in the Warrior Invitational. Despite the hot temperatures, the boys team ended the day in 3rd place. Next up for the middle school team is the Bobcat Invite next Thursday at the Thermopolis Golf Course.     The Lady Cats Volleyball team faced off with Shoshoni (6-13-1) this past Friday, and then played Greybull (13-9-3) on Saturday. Both matches were conference games. The ladies were dominant against the team from Shoshoni – going 3 and 0 (25-15, 25-17 and 25-16).     The Bobcat boys and girls golf teams were in Sheridan last weekend to compete in the State 2A Golf Championships. The tournament was played over two days, Friday and Saturday, at the Kendrick Golf Course. Kendrick is a public course - comprising 18 holes, with a par of 72.     The varsity Bobcats football team made the long 4 hour bus ride over South Pass to Kemmerer last Friday and came away with a tough win against the home team. The Rangers had been undefeated coming into the contest and proved to be a tough opponent on their home field. The game was low scoring, with the two defenses working hard to limit their opponents yardage. In the first quarter, punting from their own side of the field, the Kemmerer kicker missed the ball on the kick, resulting in a turn-over to Thermopolis on the Kemmerer 35 yard line....

    The Lady Cats played host last weekend to one-half of the Western Wyoming Volleyball Challenge Tournament. This newly formed tournament saw 1A and 2A teams from all over the state compete at two venues, Thermopolis and Greybull.     The Hot Springs County High School Cross Country Team traveled to Lander on Thursday, September 19 to compete in the Lander Invitational Meet. Teams from sixteen schools were in attendance to take on a new course laid out in Lander. While the new course did away with the dreaded hill of the previous lay out, it also added an even tougher hill – which hardly seems cricket.     In a tune-up for this week’s State Championship Tournament, the Hot Springs County High School golf teams competed in a dual match with Kemmerer on Friday, September 13. The event was played on neutral ground at the Lander Golf Course.
