The Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team kicked off the season last Saturday at the Cody Middle School tournament with seven other teams gathering to compete. The girls team brought home first place with 166.5 points, ahead of the second place Powell girls with 136 points. On Friday, October 17, in a game which would determine the first place standing in the 2A West and would also determine the number one seed in the upcoming play-offs, the Hot Springs County High School Bobcats faced off against the Buffaloes in Mountain View. Last week, the Hot Springs County High School varsity volleyball team played two in-conference matches – one at home and one on the road. On Friday, the Lady Cats hosted the Lady Blue of Shoshoni. The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams traveled to Ethete last Saturday to face off in the 2A West 5 Rivers Conference Finals. Both the Bobcats and the Lady Cats finished third in the team standings at the event and carried home some new hardware for the high school’s trophy case. Following on a trend, the Hot Springs County High School volleyball team played away and home games last week, facing the Lady Bulldogs in Lovell on Thursday, and then the Cougars of Wind River for Homecoming on Saturday. Going into the match, Lovell was ranked number three among Class 3A teams, and their level of play displayed how they come by their ranking. The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat and Lady Cat cross country teams traveled to Powell last week to compete in the Pinnacle Bank Powell Invitational. The event will serve as a final tune-up for the conference finals, which will be held at Wyoming Indian on Friday. The Thermopolis Middle School boys and girls cross country teams wrapped up their season last Thursday at the Pinnacle Bank/Powell Invitational held at the Powell Golf Club. On Friday night the Lyman Eagles rolled into town to challenge Hot Springs County at Leroy Hayes Field. It was Homecoming week and the Bobcats were looking to extend their win streak. Seven middle school teams gathered in Thermopolis last Friday for the Bobcat Cross Country Invitations held at the Thermopolis Golf Course with the TMS boys team placing 4th and the girls finishing in sixth place.
