    Howell “Chris” Coleman Downs, 73, passed away on October 27, 2015. Chris fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer and died peacefully at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House surrounded by his family. Chris was born on December 25, 1941, to Mary Hester and David Downs, in Cato, Ark. His mother remarried Paul Tomkins, whom Chris fondly remembered and considered as his father. Born March 17, 1927, in Thermopolis, he was the son of Martin and Ann Marie (Sorensen) Odde. Following school, he worked various jobs including the Bureau of Reclamation for six years. Born December 29, 1949, in Pampa, Texas, he was the son of Elmer and Effie Jo (Gregory) Ownsby. Raised in Oklahoma and Arizona, he worked as a chef then spent much of his life in the oilfields.
