Hot Springs County resident Ralph Joseph “Joe” Campbell has been named as a 2016 inductee into the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame (WCHF). Honorees, family and friends are invited to an induction ceremony Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Parkway Plaza in Casper. Tickets are $20 per person. Local resident, Shawn Goodman, 42, was seriously injured in a work related accident in the Big Horn Mountains on September 14. At 8:45 a.m., Goodman was cutting trees to be shipped to Oregon for a log home when one of the trees fell on him, breaking both femurs at the hip. A fellow worker from Shoshoni, Jason Kinnigy, has been commended for saving Goodman’s life, getting him as comfortable as possible before going for help. Big Horn Basin Foundation Director Jessica Lippincott was recently the recipient of the Henryetta Berry Memorial from the Wyoming State Historical Society. Lippincott explained that the award is given out once a year to those who promote Wyoming history in the youth, and she received it for the dinosaur academy she teaches. NW BOCES teacher Leigh Dobbins was named the 2016 Employee of the Year. Dobbins has been working at NW BOCES for eight years. Dobbins said it meant a lot to her to be chosen as Employee of the Year. James C. "Jim" Good, who represented Wyoming at the prestigious National Championship Air Races in Reno for decades, is the 2016 inductee into the Wyoming Aviation Hall of Fame. Chimenti has worked as the school nurse for the Hot Springs County School District for 24 years. "My mother was the school nurse ahead of me for 28 years," she said. Earlier this month, Police Chief Steven Shay announced before the Town Council that Sergeant Mike Chimenti was bidding farewell to law enforcement. Zupan chose to grow his hair out - enduring negative and positive comments - to donate it to Wigs for Kids. Thermopolis Middle School eighth grader Katie Burrows returned home from the Showalter Music Festival held Feb. 13 at Northwest College not knowing she had won a prestigious award for her vocal solo performance. Gavin Philips, a Hot Springs County High School graduate in 2001, has been hired by the Johns Hopkins Medical Center’s Institute for Cell Engineering to join an international team of doctors developing a new form of brain scan.
