    The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has released the Wyoming unemployment rate for January 2017, showing an unchanged rate of 4.8 percent. From December to January, almost all county unemployment rates followed their normal seasonal pattern and increased. In Hot Springs County, the unemployment rate was 5% for January, up a bit from the 4.3% in December, but lower than the 5.7 percent we saw in January of 2016.     Wyoming Dinosaur Center Executive Director Angie Guyon found out the last week of February she was appointed to a three-year term with the Wyoming Tourism Board.     The Bobcat Speech and Debate team finished their season strong last weekend at the National Qualifying meet at Casper College. Coach Cindy Glasson said the team’s finish fits perfectly with what usually happens – bad State Tournament, good National Qualifiers.     Things are ready to go at the Thermopolis Golf Course with their opening scheduled for April 1. Golf pro Donnie Bjorhus said a round of nine holes will be $17 this year and if you need to rent a cart to go along with your round, it will be $25.     Citizens of Hot Springs County are reminded the new 1 percent specific purpose tax will go into effect April 1. The tax, which was on the ballot in November, adds an additional penny to all purchases in the county to help support the new Hospital District. This will make our sales tax 6 percent, or six-cents on the dollar.
