Authorities in Utah have identified the remains of a body found Sunday as that of 19-year-old Kyle R. Burton, who went missing last fall. Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said Burton’s body was found by a hiker east of Sherwood Drive, in the foothills above Providence. The remains had been turned over to the State of Utah’s Medical Examiner’s Office for identification. Two Thermopolis graduates have done well in their careers, moving up the ladder to foreman with the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Hot Springs County was extremely lucky the fire at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center a couple of weeks ago not only put itself out, but was contained to the kitchen area. As it is, the museum is expected to remain closed for approximately three more weeks as the clean up continues. Varney Clean Care has been at the museum every day since the fire, extracting the water from the carpeting, using ion blowers in an attempt to eliminate the smoke smell and painting and repairing.... At about 7:30 Sunday morning, the Thermopolis Police Department responded to a pursuit coming out of the south end of Wind River Canyon. A case that has been going on for over a year in District Court finally came to a conclusion on Monday as Lola Vialpando was sentenced to one year in county jail and 10 years of supervised probation by judge Robert Skar. Vialpando was charged with 21 felony counts of forgery, theft and larceny along with two misdemeanor counts of larceny in November of 2016.
