Mac and Marilyn Vass will be hosting a B.J. Dunbar memorial and cookie jar auction benefit that includes a pulled pork dinner. The funds raised are for the purchase of a trained epileptic seizure alert dog from Medical Mutts for Wade Milek. Wade is the son of Nate and Whitney (Ferree) Milek. He was diagnosed with epilepsy at six months old. His form of epilepsy is from a chromosome duplication and is extremely hard to treat. While small, rural farms and ranches across the country have been affected by COVID-19, the Wyoming Business Council has a plan in motion to help our local producers. An agriculture fund has been set aside, a total of $90 million, that will be available for Wyoming’s farmers and ranchers who qualify. Each operation that qualifies could receive up to $250,000. The H.O.P.E. Agency will be packing their Christmas Baskets on Thursday, December 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. “Scouting for Food” starts us off with the fall Holiday Food collection. This year Youth Alternatives and other volunteers will gather and sort food. Half of the food goes to the Food Bank at the Community Federated Church and half to the Christmas Baskets program. The Hot Springs County Commissioners found out last week there have been revisions to the federal CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) funding, allowing them to spend the funds in additional ways. At the most recent Town Council meeting during citizen participation, Chamber of Commerce Director Meri Ann Rush requested town approval of their lighted Christmas parade on Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m. She asked for street closures for the same route as last year’s event. The new owner of Mac’s Bar, David Potter, has announced new hours and updated features. Potter said, “Our hours are better than before.
