    The Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) announced that the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) has approved their plans for beginning basketball and wrestling on time. The format from the fall sports was used to provide protocols for students to safely participate in these two sports.   • Asphalt paving begins on US20/WY789 through Thermopolis

    Paving is under way on a $3.3 million highway improvement project through the Town of Thermopolis on US20/WY789. Some paving is currently happening near the Hot Springs State Park headquarters on the north end of Thermopolis, between Mondell and Washakie streets, and near WYDOT on the south end of Thermopolis.     One item on the upcoming November ballot has not had a lot of attention – Pari-mutuel Wagering. The option to have pari-mutuel wagering in Hot Springs County does not mean the opening of a casino, but rather the option for a business, for instance the VFW, to host off track betting. They also discussed the Chamber’s work for grant writing and grant making progress.     CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon has announced that Wyoming’s Public Health Orders have been extended an additional two weeks through Sept. 30. One change has been made to Order No. 1, which now permits indoor close-contact group activities and sports to occur in all settings.     In spite of last week’s heavy snow, drought conditions across the High Plains and Wyoming, didn’t get a break. In fact, according to the United States Drought Monitor, many areas actually got worse.     At the most recent Town Council meeting, the members approved a transfer of a liquor license from Tony Deromedi to Jennifer Fisher for her new business OEB Saloon at 500 South 6th Street.     A slow down in aerial spraying created a slight dip in fuel sales at the Hot Springs County Airport during August according to FBO Nate Messenger. Messenger told the Hot Springs County Commissioners at their September 1 meeting that the airport saw a total of 146 operations at the facility, including nine turbine helicopters and five jet engine aircraft.     Jennifer Fisher is still working on final plans for a new business called OEB Saloon. It will be a liquor store and a bar at 500 South 6th Street.
