Hot Springs County Democrats held their county convention last Saturday. They spent the day building their platform for the next two years, outlining what Hot Spring County Democrats support, including Medicaid Expansion and strengthening access to our public lands. They also elected delegates and alternates to attend the state Democratic Convention in June. Delegates to the state convention will work with delegates from across Wyoming to craft the platform for the state party and amend the state bylaws....

At the April 19 Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting held at the Annex, Elyse Dufour presented herself on the phone to the commissioners as they addressed an update to her application for a land-use change for her property. On November 16, the commissioners held a public hearing on the change. The Hot Springs County Senior Center director Trenda Moore reported they purchased the Shopko Building in an online auction held Thursday, April 14. Moore said, "It will be the center's new home." The purchase still has yet to close, however, it should in about 30 days. Moore added that they have high expectations with the purchase as they are nearing their 50th anniversary. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Wyoming Annual Convention will be held in Thermopolis on April 29-30. GFWC helps communities in areas such as health and wellness, child advocacy, arts and culture and the environment. Last year, GFWC volunteers spent 19,177 hours to complete 240 projects. Brent Bien is running for the office of Wyoming’s Governor and visited Hot Springs County at the Historical Museum on April 14. Bien is from Sheridan and his father was a Marine Corps officer. A $4.74 million pavement improvement project has started north of Shoshoni. The project includes asphalt pavement surfacing, fencing, asphalt pavement milling, chip sealing, and other work on 8.36 miles of US20/WY789 beginning between the town limits of Shoshoni and Birdseye Road. The project’s prime contractor is Mountain Construction Co., of Lovell. The contractor’s schedule calls for asphalt milling beginning this month, with paving beginning as early as the end of April.
