The Fall Friends of the Hot Springs County Library Book and Bake Sale is Saturday, Nov. 21 at the armory building from 8 a.m. to noon. This is a clearance sale and thousands of books will be available, by the bag or by the box – rummage-sale style. Cost is $2 per bag or $5 per box of books. The Walter Manly Haynes Memorial, dedicated to the first Hot Springs County resident to die as a serviceman on foreign soil, was rededicated Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. The memorial was originally dedicated in 1927, but in the years since it has gone unnoticed and most Thermopolis residents do not even know it is a monument to Haynes. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Hunter’s Ball is fast approaching. Hot Springs County High School senior parents are hosting a night of Bingo, along with a chili dinner, Sunday Nov. 15 at the Hot Springs County Fair Building. Proceeds will go to support the 2016 Graduation Party. The Hot Springs County Library will host the Draper Museum Raptor Experience on Nov. 19 at both 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show will feature an American Kestrel, Great Horned Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, and a Golden Eagle. Make plans now to attend the Hot Springs County Senior Center Dinner and Dance Friday, Oct. 30 with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 and dancing will start at 7 p.m. The dinner menu is pork ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn bread, pears and dessert. The Thermopolis Christmas Committee is asking for businesses and community members to adopt a downtown light pole to decorate for Christmas. Deadline for adopting a light pole is Friday, Nov. 13.
