This weekend, celebrate Father’s Day with a trip to Hot Springs State Park for the annual Hot Spot Car Rally, June 16 and 17. The first rally was at Big T Drive-In on Shoshoni, and featured 34 cars. The Hot Springs County High School Student Council is preparing for the Tour de Wish this Saturday. In conjunction with Make a Wish Wyoming, the student council will be holding a 5k ride and walk in Hot Springs State Park, starting at 9 a.m. Open registration begins at 8 a.m. All proceeds from the event will be used to grant a wish for a terminally ill child. It may only be the middle of June, but the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is busy planning for the 4th of July fireworks display and are unfortunately coming up short. According to fire chief Mark Collins, it takes about $12,000 to create a 20-30 minute display. The warm weather allowed the June Gymkhana Session to be held outside at Hot Springs County Fairgrounds.
