    The Hot Springs County Clerk’s office has released unofficial results from the 2024 General Election and Bob Aguiar (R) narrowly won over Jack Baird (I) to serve a four year term as Hot Springs County Commissioner. Aguiar received 1,306 votes with Baird receiving 1,200 votes. In the highly contested Hot Springs County School Board of Trustees race, the four winning vote earners include Justin Budd with 1,368, Jean Skelton with 1,255, Marshall Keller with 1,115 and Nichole Weyer with 997.     The Bobcat Roundtop Yearbook earned the Silver Star ranking and All-State Honors with a second place ranking in the 1A/2A division at the 2024 Wyoming Student Media Association (WSMA) Convention held at Casper College on October 28.     Christ the King Church, of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), has opened locally for others to join them. They meet at the Big Horn Federal Community Room on Sundays at 9 a.m. for the Worship Service, 10 a.m. Bible Study and on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. for Bible Study.     Progress is being made to replace the Town of Thermopolis’ flagpole that was damaged by a windstorm on September 9. The damage prevented town officials from lowering the flag in recognition of September 11 and the town is unable to fly flags. They received assistance from the Thermopolis Fire Department, which is the only entity that can reach the top of the flagpole, to take the flags down and survey the damage.     Our beloved Ron Jurovich passed in the early hours of October 25, 2024. He was born in the hospital on Hospital Hill on August 23, 1949, in Thermopolis, Wyo. He was raised in Thermopolis by his parents, grandparents and with his cousins. His family left for a brief time to experience life in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked through college in the oil field.     The Lady Cats varsity volleyball team competed at the 2A Regional Championships in Lander on November 1 and 2 last week and punched their ticket to the 2A State Championships in Casper this week. On Friday, the Lady Cats played Big Piney – who had finished the regular season in second place in the 2A Southwest.     On October 29, the Wyoming Pioneer Home held a gala art show that culminated eight weeks of art classes for participants. The event featured a variety of painted clay pieces designed by residents of the Pioneer Home and also members of the community who signed up for the program.
