    The Hot Springs County School Board met on September 18 for their regular monthly meeting. The board took up the issue of the board vacancy, which will occur due to the resignation of trustee Justin Budd, which will become effective on October 1, 2025. Budd advised that he has been offered an opportunity to work overseas, and that he and his family will be leaving the state.     The Class 2A State Championship Golf Tournament was played in Douglas over two days last weekend with the Lady Cats bringing home first place and the Bobcats bringing home second place.     The Thermopolis Town Council met on September 16, 2025. With no one appearing to voice public comments, the council jumped right in to their brief Agenda.     Gary L. Giannino, 81, died September 14, 2025, after a period of declining health. Born May 4, 1944, in Rock Springs, Wyo., he was the son of Anthony Giannino and Catherine Daum. He grew up in Thermopolis and following graduation from Hot Springs County High School, he joined the Army. In August of 1966, he married Judy McCormick.     Patricia Ann (Monk) Reynolds of Thermopolis, Wyo., affectionately known as "Patti" to her family and friends, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Vernal, Utah, at the age of 79. Patti was born June 24, 1946, to Melvin and Bette (Lowry) Monk in Lovell, Wyo. The family later moved to Casper, Wyo., where she was raised.     Kent Russell Burton of Thermopolis, Wyo., passed away on September 15, 2025. Kent was born on January 30, 1950, in Sterling, Colo. He was the first child of Wallace and Agnes Burton.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcats and Lady Cats cross country teams traveled to Lander last Thursday to compete in the Lander Invitational. The course was a little different this year, including a hill climb which was intense, and proved to be a significant challenge for the teams who came to test their metal. Shane Rankin reported that his department was working on a project with the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) to identify what right-of-way rights thestate has in Hot Springs County.
