    At the August 3 Thermopolis Town Council meeting Town Attorney Mike Messenger presented an emergency ordinance amending a town code section which changes the automation fee structure as required by Wyoming statutes. Messenger said, “the essence of this is that we have been collecting forty dollars for the state’s automation fee.” The town withdrew from that program on July 1.     The 2021 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds Friday night brought in a record breaking $203,104.50, up from $180,195.25 last year. Along with a live auction for sheep, swine, goats and beef, baked goods were offered up via a silent auction. Twenty-six head of beef came through the ring this year and sold for an average of $3.52 per pound and an average of $4,473.32 per head for a total sales amount of $116,306.25.     Hot Springs County rancher Josh Longwell presented to the Hot Springs County Commissioners his concerns about grizzly bears killing his sheep on his private property. Longwell started off explaining that his ranch was bought in the mid 90s and he said, “At that point, there was not one grizzly bear, not one wolf on that ranch. Mark Mszanski, a writer for the True West magazine, was going through the digital database of the Hot Springs Historical Museum in Thermopolis when he came across a famous photo.
