The Hot Springs County Commissioners met last Tuesday to deal with a small but substantial agenda, with the most important item being the approval of the fiscal year budget. A lively and festive weekend hit Thermopolis with Wyoming Discovery Days in the park and Big Music in a Small Town at the Thermopolis Golf Course. A free event, Wyoming Discovery Days featured two full days of live music, wagon rides, a raffle, and plenty of vendor booths in Hot Springs State Park. Visitors could get ice cream made by a steam engine or watch one of several blacksmith demonstrations. Hugs were on the menu on Wednesday, July 9, as a large crowd gathered to celebrate the retirement of much beloved Yvonne Kraushaar from Big Horn Enterprises. The 2025 Hot Springs County Fair will kick off with shooting sports competitions on Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25 at the Bob Milek Range with shooting beginning at 5 p.m. both days. The Gift of the Waters Pageant celebrates the signing of the treaty, which set aside Hot Springs State Park. The pageant is always held the first weekend in August. This year’s pageant will be on August 2 and 3 at 6 p.m. at the Big Spring in Hot Springs State Park. This weekend, many former graduates of Thermopolis/Hot Springs County High School will return to town to share memories, laughs and stories with graduates who live in our community.
