    The Smoking Waters Art Guild is hosting a pallet painting party June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., by City Rags located at 444 Broadway. According to stroll organizer Toddi Darlington, the Big Horn Basin Folk Festival is in need of pallets to be used as festival area dividers. “We thought it would be fun to invite the public, especially children, to stop by and paint a pattern on a pallet”.     Meeteetse Museums will be hosting its free annual tour to Legend Rock State Archaeological Site on Saturday, June 6, as well as a “pre-tour” presentation on June 5. The June 6 tour will be led this year by renowned archaeologist Dr. Larry Loendorf. Loendorf is an archaeologist whose research focuses on the Great Plains, the U. S. Southwest, ethnography, and rock art.     Hot Springs County 4-H held their annual presentation contest last Friday at the Hot Springs County Extension office. Ten youngsters participated in the event including three in the senior division, two in the intermediate division, four juniors and one Cloverbud. Daniel Leonhardt was awarded Grand Champion in the senior division with his presentation on wooden bows. Jeremy Gibbel won Reserve Champion for instructions on cast iron cleaning.     Emergency Management coordinator Bill Gordon held a conference call on Tuesday afternoon regarding water levels in the Big Horn and Wind Rivers. The river is currently flowing at 5500 cfs (cubic feet per second) and the Bureau of Reclamation hopes to be able to continue that flow for the next two or three days.   • School enrollment numbers down slightly

    Final numbers have been released from Hot Springs County School District No. 1, showing a decrease in enrollment from the end of the year, 2014 to the end of the year, 2015. While overall the decrease is just five students, a few of the classes showed large losses. From the end of the year in 2014 to the end of this school year, the sixth grade class lost a total of 18 students. The senior class showed a loss of 10 students, and the fourth grade lost 11.     Hot Spring County’s unemployment rate decreased slightly between January and February 2015, based on information from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. From March to April of this year, unemployment in the county has decreased from 5.1 percent to 4.5 percent. The unemployment rate is back at the same mark it started at in January of this year.     An emergency contract totalling nearly $200,000 has been approved for cleanup of mud slides and big rocks near U.S. 20/Wyoming 789 inside Wind River Canyon, according to Wyoming Department of Transportation District 5 maintenance engineer Pete Hallsten of Basin. The $199,200 contract has been awarded to Pab Good Trucking LLC, of Greybull.     According to information provided by the Bureau of Reclamation, water levels at Boysen Reservoir are expected to rise approximately 2.5 feet in the coming days. The added water will fill the reservoir’s flood pool and will flood some of the reservable campsites at the State Park, as well as several regular and group campsites, especially in the Tough Creek area.
