    Jim Lash, Kent Shook and Kris Mull will be providing hunter education classes beginning Monday, Jan. 21 at the CRC room in the high school auditorium. Classes will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, May 28,29 and 30, and June 4, 5 and 6, from 6-8 p.m. Topics covered will include including ethics, rules, regulations and firearm safety.   • Campground project nears completion

    If you’ve driven through Wind River Canyon any time during the last few months you’ve probably noticed some work going on at the Upper Wind River Campground. According to Gary Schoene with the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources, the work is to install rip rap and repair stream bank erosion along the west side of the campground that faces the river.     On Monday, Dean Runyan Associates released a report to the Wyoming Office of Tourism regarding the impacts of travel across the state and individual counties in 2018. According to the data for Hot Springs County, total direct travel spending was $24.6 million, including $21.6 million in destination spending and $3 million in other travel. This is down from the $24.7 million total — $22.1 in destination spending, $2.5 million in other travel — in 2017. The first hike will be this Saturday, weather permitting, along the Spirit Trail inside the park.
