Tuesday evening, the Thermopolis Town Council approved the third and final reading for Ordinance 844, which takes effect Nov. 1, regarding fees for construction and demolition trash and the disposal of tires. The resolution includes language stating that tires shall not be deposited in town dumpsters or left abandoned in the town, and an appropriate permit must be paid for in advance. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, a defendant who came ready to be sentenced to the Wyoming Department of Corrections is now looking at an alternative. Broderick Hopper was sentenced in 2015 on a theft charge. On Oct. 11, beginning a 6 p.m., the Hot Springs County Library will host a program about Tom O’Day and Bronco Nell. The historical figures will be portrayed by Ray Maple and his wife Jackie. For the third annual Oktobrewfest, all was in preparation the evening before. Barrels were ready to be put up, and picnic tables were stacked - unfortunately, that's how the tables remained, as rain settled in for nearly the whole day. Sunday in Casper, 49 men and four women from across the state were inducted into the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame. This weekend, 10 disabled veterans from across the United States will come to Thermopolis VFW Post 2281 to do some antelope hunting, through the Hunting with Heroes program. Though the hunt doesn't begin until Saturday, the veterans should begin arriving Friday afternoon. The VFW had plenty of people Saturday evening, for a meal and cookie jar auction for Clay Little and his family. On September 7, Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital was presented with a Hospital Quality Award from Mountain-Pacific Quality Health, during the Wyoming Hospital Association Meeting and Convention in Cheyenne.
