    Thermopolis 7th grade boys basketball has been hitting the court the last few weeks with the A team having a 3-2 record and the B team a 1-4 record. In the latest action, they took on Lovell last week with the A team falling 25-20. Coach Dan Webber said, “We came out playing really hard in this game and jumped up on Lovell early.     The Lady Cats basketball team took a pair of losses over the weekend as they hit the road in Newcastle on Friday and Douglas on Saturday. Friday night the girls had a tough first half, struggling to take care of the basketball as Newcastle forced 22 turnovers on the night.     The Bobcat boys basketball team split a pair of games last week, taking the "W" against Greybull, 54-53, but pulling the "L" when it came to Lander, 37-88. Coach Shane Corpening said, "This was an interesting game from start to finish." Greybull came into the game shooting 15-percent from the three-point line.     The Lady Bobcats split a pair of games this past week, beating the Greybull Lady Buffs 55-35 on Tuesday evening, then falling 75-29 to the Lady Tigers in Lander. The girls are placed fourth in conference play in 3A Northeast. Coach Matt McPhie said the team started off slow against Greybull and then exploded for 35 points in the second and third quarters. “This was in large part to some excellent defense,” he said.     As 2021 rolled over the horizon, good news was received by the People for People and Backpack programs which serve residents of Hot Springs County. Ed Good, a 1973 graduate from Hot Springs County High School, had mailed in a request to Lynn and Foster Friess on behalf of the programs, asking for a donation to start the new year.   • COVID vaccine now available to citizens aged 70 and over

    Hot Springs County citizens aged 70 and over are now able to get the vaccination for COVID-19 through Hot Springs County Public Health. Now that they are finishing up with the prioritization of Phase 1A they can begin Phase 1B this week. Those 70 and older are included in Phase 1B. Originally, the county was to receive the Pfizer vaccine, however that was changed to the Moderna vaccine, leaving the Pfizer one for the large city hospitals across the country.     The Bobcat girls varsity basketball team kicked off their season last weekend with three games on the road, Torrington, Burns and Wheatland, coming home with a 1-2 record.
