Sherry Diane Lackey-Tervo

1951-2026

Sherry was born to Robert and Ruby Lackey on October 26, 1951, in Scottsbluff, Neb. The first of eight children, she took her role as oldest seriously to always look after and worry about her siblings.

After graduating from HSCHS, Sherry married Malcom Tervo in June 1970. They had a son, Cortney Tervo, and later divorced. She spent most of her life in Thermopolis and worked as a bartender for many years. Sherry enjoyed thrifting for unique jewelry, cruising Main Street and eating in the park. She collected heart-shaped rocks, many of which were gifts from friends, she loved cooking, especially her signature dish chicken cacciatore. Sherry also loved to sing and had an amazing voice. In high school, she and her girlfriends placed first in the Stars of Tomorrow singing competition. On occasion, a lucky few would hear her sing Patsy Cline songs during karaoke nights. Sherry enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and the camaraderie of fellow patrons at Shorty's in the evenings. Dearly loved by her family and friends, she will be greatly missed.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Keri (Prissy); brothers, Teddy, and Terry (Buster); and sister-in-law, Debra Lackey. Her brother Bryan would pass a short time later.

She is survived by her son, Cortney Tervo; sister, Brenda Burgess (Mike) of Casper; brothers, Dan of Thermopolis and Marty (Heather) of Gillette; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at her request. We invite you to join us at Shorty's Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. to reminisce. Donations may be made in her memory to the Hot Springs County Senior Center.
