End of Summer Jam downtown Saturday

On Saturday, September 5, a spectacular End of Summer Jam will hit in downtown Thermopolis. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the music starts at 6 p.m.

The stage will be set up facing the flag pole at the intersection of 5th Street and Broadway, so expect a street closure on Saturday commencing at 10 a.m. As the stage is delivered, there will also be some lane closures to expect on Friday evening, September 4.

The event is a musical/dance function so bring your own seating and come prepared to enjoy great live music and delectable food options. Be sure to wear your most comfortable dancing shoes. Several food trucks will be on site to provide dining opportunities. There will also be a cornhole tournament, sponsored by Hot City Cornhole.

This year’s event follows a successful event which was held on Memorial Day weekend last year. Jennifer Fisher, of One Eye Buffalo, is the prime organizer of the event with the goal of bringing high quality acts to Thermopolis without having to sell tickets to make the event viable. Thanks to the generosity of several local sponsors, the End of Summer Jam will have no entrance fee - although, entrance donations will be graciously accepted to support Big Horn Enterprises and the Gottsche Foundation.

One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company, OEB Saloon, along with 7 Lazy S Café & Bar and Wyoming Whiskey are co-hosting the event.

This year’s opening act will be Wyoming’s own Rhyder Scott who will be followed by Ben Haggard as the main event. Haggard is the son of Merle Haggard and will be performing in Thermopolis on his way to a date in Dallas, Texas on September 12.

“We hope this is just the beginning of things to come,” says Fischer. “We doubled the operating budget this year and we were able to book some major talent for the event. It is going to be a really fun night and we hope everyone will come down and have a great time.”
