Courthouse services available by appointment only, other area closures

With the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of some businesses there have been questions on whether or not the Hot Springs County Courthouse is still open for business.

As of this printing, the courthouse is closed to the public.

If you have paperwork you need to drop off, you will find drop boxes in the lobby.

If your need is urgent, say license plates or a title, you may call ahead and make an appointment. If your business at the courthouse is not urgent in nature they are requesting you wait until April 6 .

Other area businesses are either closed or by appointment only.

The VFW has shut down food service along with the bar and are not holding any gatherings or meetings. They are rescheduling things until May.

The Hot Springs County Historical Society has cancelled their April and May meetings, but will reconvene in October.

The TePee and Star Plunge pools along with the State Bath House are closed until further notice.

A concert by the Colorado Children’s Chorale scheduled for April 23-24 has also been cancelled.

Hot Springs County 4-H is also closed. If you have popcorn to pick up, please call 864-3421 to make an appointment.

Black Bear Café is currently closed and will remain so until April 3.

Storyteller made the decision to keep their friends and family safe by closing until April 3 as well.

Today’s (Thursday) meeting of the Red Lane Watershed Improvement District has been cancelled due to the pandemic.

The 148 Bistro inside Gottsche Rehabilitation and Wellness andChamps Chicken located inside the Southside Travel Center are also currently closed.

Governor Mark Gordon issued a third statewide order late Tuesday, closing non-essential personal services.

The order extends through April 3 and applies to nail salons, hair salons and barber shops; cosmetology, electrology and esthetic services; massage parlors; and tattoo, body art and piercing shops.
