On the Record policy

Fire department

Wednesday, Nov. 18

Responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Amoretti Street.

Responded to a call of carbon dioxide poisoning in the 300 block of North 5th Street.

Sheriff’s department

Tuesday, Nov. 17

5:04 a.m. Report of a male walking along the highway heading towards Cody. The deputy had made contact with the male earlier and he stated stated he was just heading to Cody. The Deputy reported he was dressed appropriately for the weather.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

11:20 a.m. A report of smoke coming from a residence on Highway 20 South. A resident was burning old tires but failed to call in a controlled burn.

Friday, Nov. 20

12:40 a.m. Two lost dogs found near 6th and Richards Street. The owner was contacted and the dogs were returned.

Sunday, Nov. 22

2:25 p.m. Report of a minor collision between a truck and a skid-steer at mile marker 288 on Highway 20 South. The skid- steer was backing up and unable to see the truck. There was less than a $1,000 worth of damage so no state report was filed

Police department

Tuesday, Nov. 17

12:10 p.m. Report of a person who entered a business in the 500 block of South 5th Street that had been consuming alcohol. The reporting party became concerned when the person drove away. The officer was unable to locate the individual.

12:46 p.m. Report of two bullet holes in the windshield of a Grand Am belonging to a resident in the 1300 block of Broadway Street.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

8:42 a.m. A woman in the 800 block of Amoretti Street reported that at 3:30 a.m. her doorbell rang. When she answered the door an unknown male was standing there dressed in black with his face covered with a black ski mask. The male then threatened her by saying “We don’t like non Christians here.” No further information was available.

Thursday, Nov. 19

10:20 a.m. A green Nordic Holly Bike in good condition was found in the alley of the 300 block of Arapahoe.

1:25 p.m. Report of a garage window being shot with what looked to be a BB gun in the 800 block of Amoretti Street.

2:00 p.m. A two-vehicle collision occurred in the high school parking lot. There were no injuries.

6:46 p.m. A water main broke on Cedar Ridge and flooding down the street. The town shop was notified.

8:29 p.m. A transient woman with two little girls received emergency funds for gas money to make it to her final destination that was still over two hours away.

Friday, Nov. 20

8:53 a.m. There was a report of a driver at 5th and Ryan Street that did not have a valid drivers license. The driver did have a current license.

7:40 p.m. A complaint of trespassing in the 700 block of Shoshoni Street. A resident has been crossing over onto a individuals property and using their dumpster.

Saturday, Nov. 21

9:35 a.m. Report that a vehicle had skidded out of control in the snow and knocked down a local business sign at 6th and Shoshoni Street.

1:20 p.m. A complaint of a vehicle illegally parked at 8th and Arapahoe. The vehicle was parked legally.

11:56 p.m. A male resident arguing with his girlfriend in the 500 block of Mondell Street put his arm through the windows of two separate cars. When the male’s father tried to intervene he was struck. The suspect was taken to the hospital for stitches and cited for simple assault.

Friday, Nov. 20

Justin Spence, 32, was bound over to District Court on sexual assault charges.

Births

Andrew Keith Coates was born Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Bridget and James Coates of Thermopolis.

He weighed 8 pounds, and was 19.75 inches long.

Grandparents are Brian & Margaret Elza of Hammon, Ind. and Jim & Janice Coates of Custer, S.D.

Taysen Lynn Neeff was born Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Kailey Dvorak of Thermopolis and Levi Neeff of Casper.

He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Grandparents are Janice and Joe Cook, Lynn Dvorak, Larry Neeff and Shelly Curcio.
