Last weekend, the middle school track team competed at the Shoshoni Jr. High Invite along with 14 other schools. The Shoshoni Invite is unique as some schools bring 5th grade athletes, putting the 5th and 6th grades in the youth division and the 7th and 8th graders in the middle school division. Mother Nature’s plans for the weather can always be a bit challenging for the spring golf season and the Hot Springs County High School Bobcat golf teams were reminded of that last week. The team had planned to compete in a dual in Lander on Thursday, and then head over the hill to play in Buffalo on Friday. In February of this year, a few fly fishing enthusiasts got together in Casper and organized a statewide fly fishing tournament for high school age participants. The Wyoming High School Fly Fishing Championship event was held last Saturday on the gold medal waters of the Grey Reefs section of the North Platte River. The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat golf teams traveled to Sheridan last week to play in the Kendrick Spring Invite Tournament, which was hosted by Big Horn High School and Tongue River High School. The Hot Springs County High School Track Team continued their season in Glenrock last week. With the FFA State Convention going on in Cheyenne, the team continued to see some shortages in numbers of competitors. With just three girls competing, the Lady Cats finished 10th out of twelve teams, while the Bobcats claimed a first place finish in the team standings with a team point total of 168. Thermopolis Middle School track competed in Riverton last Friday along with 20 other Wyoming schools at the 2026 Spartan Invite, giving the team from Thermopolis a chance to see competition from schools outside the Big Horn Basin. Thermopolis Wrestling Club wrapped up the season at the culminating WAWA Kids/16U/Jr State tournament last weekend in Casper. TWC brought home 17 individual state titles across all three styles of wrestling. Aksel Polson, Trenton Enis and Fischer Lewis all earned the Triple Crown honors with a first place finish in all three wrestling styles. Thermopolis Wrestling Club (TWC) members competed in Rapid City, S.D., at the AAU Black Hills Nationals tournament and in Powell at the USA wrestling 3 style tournament over the weekend. In Rapid City, TWC was tied for 4th place as a team with 118 points. 262 clubs competed. The Bobcats and Lady Cats track teams were in Worland last Thursday to compete in the 2026 D&D Invitational. With teams from twelve schools appearing, the number of competitors was vast and the competition was first rate. While the wind dropped the feels-like temps for the teams competing at the Bobcat Golf Invite in Thermopolis that day, in Worland, the weather held off, allowing the competition to go on at a fast pace and providing some perfect conditions for field and track events. Last Tuesday, the middle school track team competed in a triangular meet with Worland and Ten Sleep, hosted by Worland. While small in size, the athletes were able to bring home many individual championships. Mother Nature continued to provide some fine spring-like weather for the Hot Springs County High School track team as they competed in Cody last week. The meet was smaller than the season opener in Wind River the week before, however, the competition continued to be top-notch. Following their superb fall season, the Hot Springs County High School golf team will kick off their spring season this week, hosting the Thermopolis Invite on Thursday, April 2 at the Thermopolis Golf Course. With 37 wrestlers competing in the Montana Open wrestling tournament last weekend in Billings, Thermopolis Wrestling Club came home with the team runner-up honors scorning 263.5 points, just 5.5 points shy of winning the tournament. Member of the Thermopolis Wrestling Club once again split ways last weekend, with some attending the Showdown at the Casper Classic 3-style tournament while the majority of the team participated in the North Big Horn Rams Rumble Freestyle/Folkstyle Tournament held in Lovell. Thermopolis Wrestling Club members split way last week, with some members traveling south to the Lander Legacy Classic while the majority of the team participated in the Buffalo Bill Showdown in Cody. Another fantastic season has come to a close for the Bobcat and Lady Cat basketball teams. Both teams were crowned regional champions in Riverton last month, and then both teams ground their way into the championship games at state in Casper. The Bobcats finished their highly successful season with an overall record of 24-4, and went undefeated in the 2A Northwest quad.
