    It’s just a couple weeks before school starts up again, which means increased foot, vehicle and bicycle traffic going to and from the schools. Drivers should be sure to keep their eyes on the road and be aware of other drivers, particularly since there will be some newly-licensed drivers in the coming months. At Ralph Witters Elementary, principal Catelyn Deromedi said online registration is already open at hotsprings1.org. Simply go to the bottom of the page under “Parent Quicklinks” and select either New Student Registration or Returning Student Registration.     Maintenance and custodial staff at the Hot Springs County School District are keeping very busy this summer with various projects in preparation for the start of school. Maintenance supervisor, Jere Apland, said the largest project going on this summer is at the middle school where the roof is being replaced. The board approved the Hot Springs County Recreation District budget for the upcoming year and agreed to the use of district-owned vehicles and district facilities for their programs.     The Hot Springs County Pioneer Association is pleased to announce the 2019 winners of the Jessie C. Thompson Writing Contest in Hot Springs County schools.     During an assembly Tuesday afternoon at the high school auditorium, the Wyoming Association of Secondary School Principals (WASSP) recognized Breez Longwell Daniels was as the 2019-20 Wyoming Principal of the Year. After receiving her award Daniels spoke to the assembled high school students. Daniels shared how she graduated from Thermopolis 31 years ago.
