According to information provided by the Bureau of Reclamation, water levels at Boysen Reservoir are expected to rise approximately 2.5 feet in the coming days. The added water will fill the reservoir’s flood pool and will flood some of the reservable campsites at the State Park, as well as several regular and group campsites, especially in the Tough Creek area. Mother Nature reared her ugly head over Memorial Day weekend, bringing rain to the Big Horn Basin, which created unstable conditions in Wind River Canyon south of Thermopolis. The Thermopolis Town Council approved a contract Tuesday to have Carr Coatings of Lovell do painting repairs to the Cedar Ridge tank at a cost of $98,925. The Travel and Tourism Board approved offering a renewed one-year contract to Cowgirl Consulting to the tune of $42,500, a five percent increase according to state park superintendent Kevin Skates. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department trapped and relocated a sub-adult male grizzly bear May 14, 2015. The bear was captured for killing domestic sheep on private land northwest of Thermopolis.
