    The Hot Springs County unemployment rate for the month of February was 5.6 percent, only .1 percent down from January’s percentage of 5.7. February 2015, however, had an unemployment rate of only 4.4 percent. The statewide decline in the oil, coal and natural gas industry is affecting a number of companies.     Hot Springs County High School FFA members plan to attend the State FFA convention April 4-7 in Cheyenne and Laramie. FFA advisor Britton Van Heule said there are 52 chapters in the Wyoming State FFA competing at the convention.     Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital recently upgraded its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) capabilities, and though the system is not yet usable for patients it certainly means a lot in terms of the hospital's ability to serve the community.     Earlier this month, Police Chief Steven Shay announced before the Town Council that Sergeant Mike Chimenti was bidding farewell to law enforcement. As of Monday, Chimenti is officially off-duty, having tendered his resignation. This June would have marked his 42nd year.     Kids of all ages will be able to celebrate Easter twice this year with two Easter egg hunts planned in Thermopolis.     The Hot Springs County Unemployment rate increased significantly from 4.2 percent in December 2015 to 5.7 percent in January 2016 according to data from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. A year ago in January the unemployment rate in the county was 4.4 percent. In December there were 100 people unemployed in the county and in January the number of unemployed jumped to 137.
