    Fremont County Attorney Patrick LeBrun has several legal concerns about the public inquest planned in the matter of a fatal, officer-involved shooting that took place Sept. 21 in Riverton.   • Rental prices show increase

    According to a report on the Wyoming Cost of Living Index, released Monday by the Economic Analysis Division of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information, average rental rates in Hot Springs County have increased from the second quarter 2018 to the second quarter 2019. The report shows average apartment rent went from $505 to $506, a small increase of 0.1 percent. Average mobile home lot rent went from $215 to $245, an increase of 14 percent.     During the Thermopolis Town Council’s Oct. 15 meeting, it was announced that the Thermopolis Police Department has received a U.S. Department of Homeland Security State Homeland Security Program Grant in the amount of $17,600.94.     On Oct. 7 there was a residential fire reported at 2569 US Hwy 20 in Washakie County. Emergency services and law enforcement personnel from the Worland Fire Department, Hot Springs County Fire Department, Washakie County Ambulance, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Washakie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location.     A buck at the Hot Springs State Park terraces was dispatched on Saturday, Oct. 12 after it was observed to have Chronic Wasting Disease. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is highly contagious among deer, elk, moose, reindeer and caribou. There is no known cure, and it’s always fatal.     According to a report released last month by the Economic Analysis Division of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information, Hot Springs County was among the six counties in the state to see a decrease in taxable sales, coming in at 5.9 percent less for the second quarter in 2019 compared to the second quarter of 2018.     Earlier this month, High Plains Power came to the rescue of an osprey entangled in twine, hanging from a platform nest north of Thermopolis. A landowner initially reported the incident to Thermopolis Game Warden Benge Brown, who reached out to the electric utility company for assistance.
