During the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital board meeting, CEO Margie Molitor praised both Nina Landis and John Gibbel for their leadership during the recent roof leak. Molitor was on vacation during the leak which was caused by a major rainstorm. She said they kept the hospital operational even though they had to divert trauma patients that needed CT scans for a short period of time. An extension to Wyoming’s current public health orders released today by the Wyoming Department of Health contain no changes. The orders, which remain in effect through September 15, continue to allow outdoor gatherings of no more than 50% of venue capacity, with a maximum of 1,000 people as long as social distancing and increased sanitization measures are in place. In the recent Travel and Tourism board meeting held at the Hot Springs County Museum, Director Jackie Dorothy provided some good news in their financial report. The Lodging Tax Distribution check that was posted on June 30, was for $4,301.06. However, for the following month, with the date posted on July 31, the Lodging Tax Distribution was $20,586.05. More than 1,600 Thermopolis and Hot Springs County residents came out to cast their ballots on Tuesday in the Primary Election and the unofficial results are in. A 14-year-old Casper boy’s body was found Friday in the Wind River after he apparently drowned. The boy had been reported missing from a campground in the Wind River Canyon earlier in the day. Hot Springs County officially entered a fire ban on July 21 after the county commissioners signed a resolution upon recommendation from the Hot Springs County Fire Warden.
