    At the June Hot Springs County School Board meeting, Superintendent Dustin Hunt followed up on the input that the board had already received from the community on its proposed bus lane that would would encompass the school district property on the south end of the track that is currently the wooden play park.     Kelly Puntney, who has family ties and residency in Thermopolis, has acquired a beautiful bobcat that was mounted by a taxidermist. Puntney is a landscape architect in Vancouver, Washington and was doing some work for a veterinarian there. This veterinarian had a taxidermied bobcat on display that caught Puntney's eye. The bobcat, while alive, was found with a broken leg or foot and was not able to be healed. Therefore, it was euthanized and stuffed. Puntney wanted to buy the bobcat from the...

    The 2021 Hot Springs County Fair, “Sow it, Grow it, Show it!” will be kicking off this Saturday with the Peewee, 4-H and FFA Youth Horse Show. Starting next Monday, Aug. 2, youths will be showing dogs, rabbits, goats, sheep, swine and beef throughout the week, as well as showing off their shooting sports talents.     Saw Mill Fire on Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center contained GUERNSEY (WNE) –- The combined efforts of multiple agencies have led to 100% containment of the Saw Mill Fire on Friday, July 23. The fire was initially reported on July 16 in the impact area in the North Training areas of Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center.     At the July 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, council member Bill Malloy gave a report about his attendance at the WAM Convention. Malloy said he enjoyed it and that 167 people registered for it with many vendors in attendance. During the reception at the botanical gardens Malloy said about 300 people participated.     At the July Travel and Tourism board meeting held at the Hot Springs County Museum, Treasurer Audra Dominguez gave the financial report. She said that their record-breaking months have continued for three months in a row. Hot Springs County is busier than ever, with their numbers only 1% below the average of their fiscal year. In June 2020/21 they had $16,599.81 in lodging tax. This amount is $14,484.81 more than 2019/20, which suffered from the Covid decline. That is a 685% increase.     The Wyoming Department of Transportation has been alerted to a potential phishing scam involving driver licenses.Scammers are sending text messages that seemingly give a final notice about a “license waiver validation” and include a link to a third-party website to “avert a suspension.” The scammer’s website has been designed to look like a WYDOT website. Zack Brink from HSH's housekeeping department, Bridget Truempler, the director of nursing and Trina Slover, the director of surgical services presented Tru-D in a demonstration. Brink will clean a patient's room upon their exit where they remove the trash liners and linen because Tru-D only works on hard surfaces.
