    The September 9 Chamber of Commerce board meeting was held via Zoom. During old business, they reviewed the Pageant Day Parade, which was held on August 7. Chamber president Howie Samelson said, “It was magnificent.     At the September 7, Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting Chairman Tom Ryan and the commissioners welcomed the new County Clerk Becky Kersten. Nate Messenger gave the FBO report and said that there were 182 total recorded operations. This included six air ambulances and 12 aircraft that were stored overnight. For fuel sales, they sold 1,481.27 gallons of Avgas and 4,238.27 gallons of jet fuel.     Hot Springs State Park (HSSP) Volunteers Kathy and Cliff Vellinga and Warren Wolf spent the past year enjoying their work in the park. The Vellingas volunteered in the park last year and due to the Covid pandemic; they ended up staying longer. Their family's home base is in Las Vegas but the Covid situation was not good there.     The Risen Son Christian School closed this year and school board member Bradyn Harvey said it is a staffing issue, not a financial issue. “Last year they had four teachers that taught from preschool up to third grade. They planned to move up to fourth grade this year as, of course, the students became older.     Eric Kay of the local Mason Malta Lodge #17 has been successful in finding grant money to help them improve their building’s facade. The lodge is a 116-year-old building that was built in 1905. The Masons have done many local philanthropic charity events and they seek to do more.
