The Hot Springs County Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2281 has planned a series of services to commemorate service men and women – past and present – for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25. The inaugural Red Nose Day in the United States will be Thursday, May 21 and Days Inn Thermopolis will be participating to help feed the hungry. Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign thrown by the nonprofit organization Comic Relief. In the UK, Red Nose Day has been going for 30 years. Local runners will compete with Hot Spring County’s largest residents during the Running with the Buffalo event Saturday, May 30 beginning at 7:30 a.m. The race will start on the street outside the TePee Pool and runners will trek through the buffalo pasture and back towards the start. There will be both a 4K run/walk and an 8K run, making it possible for people of all ages to participate. Pre-registration for the event costs $15 dollars and comes with a T-shirt. Pheasants Forever will be having their annual banquet Saturday, May 30 starting at 5 p.m. in the Hot Springs County Fair Building.
