Make plans now to attend the Hot Springs County Senior Center Dinner and Dance Friday, Oct. 30 with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 and dancing will start at 7 p.m. The dinner menu is pork ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn bread, pears and dessert. The Thermopolis Christmas Committee is asking for businesses and community members to adopt a downtown light pole to decorate for Christmas. Deadline for adopting a light pole is Friday, Nov. 13. Poles have to be decorated by Nov. 28 and will be judged that day. Winners will be announced during the Hometown Holiday and lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m Nov. 28. A mass dispensing exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27 by the Hot Springs County Public Health to simulate exposure to an Anthrax agent. The purpose of the exercise to treat people who may have been exposed to the Anthrax agent, and prevent them from getting sick. It is not to treat people who are already sick. A fundraiser for the Thermopolis family of Anna, Alan and Piper Rossler will be Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the VFW. All proceeds will go to support their constant travel to medical facilities in Denver and Billings. Piper, who was born at 28 weeks and three days, needs close monitoring of health issues in both Denver and Billings, and the funds raised will help eliminate some of the medical and travel expenses. Andre Bohren, classical pianist headquartered in New Orleans, will present a classical piano concert, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Hot Springs County School District Auditorium.
