Main Street Thermopolis worked on finalizing the details for Oktobrewfest Monday night. Oktobrewfest will be 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Shorty’s Liquor will be serving 16 different beers along with two kegs — one with Bud Light, one with Coors Light. The microbrews will come from Ten Sleep, Red Lodge and possibly other locations. The Smokin’ Waters Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Thermopolis Golf Course. All proceeds from the event benefit local 4-H youth and programs. The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Four person teams will play an 18 hole scrammble. Alive at 25 is a nationally recognized Defensive Driving class facilitated and taught by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. It is free of charge and open to anyone ages 15-25. A benefit for Carllena Farman is scheduled at the Smoking Waters Pavillion for Sunday, Aug. 21, beginning at 1 p.m. Farman served in the United States Army from 1981-89, and was honorably discharged as a Specialist E4. She recently underwent triple bypass open-heart surgery in Denver and returned to her Thermopolis home. However, she could lose that home as she has no regular income. The Hot Springs County Junior Livestock Auction and Judge's Choice Bake Sale Friday evening showcased a total of 70 livestock and judge's choice bake sale entries and brought in $104,707.65.
